  1. I was expecting to find the correct voice recorder though I’m studying journalism and it is a very important tool for me.

  2. The play back sound is lower then needed and the recording needs to be a little more sensitive….. But it looks nice! Just not as good as the vn4100pc.

It is cumbersome to get from the VPN files to mp3 files, much easier from the iPod touch I ended up using with a $10 microphone. Also figuring out where a recording is in the filing system is not always clear unless you noted this elsewhere. However, for the price it is OK. I use it as a back-up to my iPod touch, which has more user-friendly features like titles for recordings and easier Wi-Fi file transfer.

Something as stupid-simple as a plain voice recorder shouldn’t cost this much.

Still, I’m satisfied with it, but that is only because I have money to spare and don’t care about this device being less than satisfactory.

    Pros:

*It can record for an impressive length of time

*relatively simple operation and upload capabilities

    Cons:

*poor sound, expect to be able to understand what you’ve recorded, but don’t expect it to sound very good. It sounds fizzly and tinny like a low bitrate mp3.

*only records in a windows proprietary format. So stupid; so, so stupid.

*no backlight. Forget trying to read the screen in slightly dim lighting.

*very simple device, no bells and whistles, nothing to write home about, yet still this expensive. Why? Because everybody else makes junk too, so this company has very little competition.

If you are serious about voice recording, get the Zoom h4n (amazing). If you need to make notes for yourself, you use a windows machine, and don’t care at all about quality but just need a relatively low cost recorder, get this.

I’m satisfied, but barely. I enjoy knowing that if I happen to lose it, I won’t be very upset.

The price for this went way down the day after I bought it, so that’s a little annoying. (I am a devotee of Amazon rather than eBay to avoid this sort of thing.) Also the batteries that came with it were dead.
